Gout Pain - The 4 Stages and Solution

Dear Fellow Gout Sufferer...

If you have gout, these are the classic stages.

1) Asymptomatic Hyperuricemia
In this stage you will not experience any symptoms, however the building blocks of the Gout puzzle are already beginning to come together. At this stage a persons uric acid levels are high and necessary steps need to be taken to ensure that uric acid doesn't precipitate out of blood and crystallize in the joints or kidneys.

2) Acute Gout (acute gouty arthritis) By this stage, some of the damaging effects of gout are beginning to occur. The excess levels of uric acid have gotten to the point where the blood cannot keep it in a dissolved form and uric acid begins to crystallize and deposit in joint spaces. This leads to a sudden onset of intense pain and swelling in the joints. Acute attacks commonly occur at night and without treatment can last for several weeks. Over time attacks occur more frequently, are more severe and last longer.

3) Intercritical Gout (interval gout) This is the period after a gout attack has subsided. While there are no symptoms during this stage, notice how gout progresses into the third stage. Many consider this the most vulnerable stage since the person is under the wrong impression that the danger has passed. Wherein fact the body's immune system is gearing for the next round of attacks on the uric acid crystals that form as a result of high concentration in blood. If treatment is not received by this stage, gout can become extremely hard to control.

4) Chronic Gout (tophaceous gout) This is the most disabling and destructive stage of gout. By this stage the disease has caused permanent damage to the affected joints and sometimes to the kidneys. In this advanced stage, the deterioration of the joint can cause severe crippling and excruciating pain. What's worse is that uric crystals in the kidney can cause blockage of the filtering tubules to such an extent that kidney function is compromised which can potentially lead to kidney failure and even death.

You'll realise that for some people, take Allupurinol and Cholcocine does not work over time, the doses keep increasing and the attacks become longer and more acute each time, as much as 6 attacks a year each attack possibly lasting 7- 14 days.

If the conventional allupurinol is not working for you, you may want to try others such as Uricinex. I found that it was featured on Reader's Digest, CNN & other good publications like New York Times. Being a gout sufferer my self, I decided to give it a try. It cost me $114, but if money could stop the pain where 3 100mg of allupurinol could not, what the heck.

I've since started taking it, if you'd like to try for yourself, here's the link. Its called Uricinex.

An Interesting Report on A Cure For Gout

An interesting letter stating that all gout cures are false. I do agree about the NSAIDs and Cholcoine. If you ever took an overdose of Cholcocine, you know it gives you diarrhea. NSAIDs such as Indometacine may work in the beginning, but will give you gastric pains. Interesting information by Dr Jeff's Gout Relief Report here

Gout Problems - How To Cure Gout

Gout problems plague men in their 40s. If you ever had gout you will know that 1 tablet of cholcocine can cure your gout in 60 secs. Attacks may recur after 6 months, and the second attack can be resolved in 120 seconds again with cholcocine.

Problem with gout is that the attacks will recur more frequently and slowly start to get chronic. What started out as 2 attacks a year will grow to 3, 4, 5, 6. And each attack will last longer then the previous. From a few seconds to a few days to few weeks. Where 1 Cholcocine tablet used to help, now we need to take 8 to 20 tablets just to clear the acute pain that appear at the feet, elbows, feet, knees. Nsaids can stop working and even cause gastric pain.

Some people are lucky. They simply take 1 tablet of allupurinol every day and drink alot of water and this prevents gout attacks. Other men who are not so fortunate and have had gout for 5 years start to experience having tophi. They may think of operating on these tophi because tophi formation can get in the way of joint movement. A large tophi, which is a solidified deposit of uric acid on your ankles, can sometimes restrict your full range of ankle motion, such that you may start walking semi flat footed.

Most doctors would rather allow the tophi to dissolve naturally through oral medication, such as 3 or even 5 tablets of allupurinol and drink at least 8 glasses of water. Operations can lead to complications. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water is important because it prevents the uric acid from re-solidying as kidney stones. You may not feel discomfort when stones form in the kidneys because they float in suspension. Its only when they migrate and clog up the tracts do we start to experience pain.

There are many remedies floating around to cure gout, from cranberry juice to exercise and weight control. For more information and solutions on how to cure gout, a disease that cripples and leaves you crawling on the floor... visit: http://www.gouttophi.blogspot.com
